Default Dunes of Despair

Hello. This post is in regards to the Dunes of Despair mission in The Crystal Desert in Prophecies. I've recently decided to start doing all of the mission from the three different campaigns, only, this time, on HM. I'm currently on Dunes of Despair, and I'm perplexed. Did they change this mission in regards to the "cheat" that allows you to teleport your group through the wall using such skills as Necrotic Traversal, or Consume Corpse? Because I've attempted this many times, and so far, not a single Scarab has spawned on the opposit side of the wall, allowing me to teleport through. And I'll be honest. If they did correct this, then I have no clue how to even attempt the Bonus for this mission the intended way...

You're suffering from a case of "bad luck." Just keep trying. Eventually you'll get a scarab to pop for you.

I actually did the mission the way it was planned when they introduced the all hero team--easy to leave a monk healing the hero and go off to kill the 3 baddies groups...and with eye skills they are easy to pick off quickly (and they are all in one small area).

but if you are trying the cheat, yeah, sometimes they just dont want to spawn--try again.

Sometimes you can pull one of the enchanteds walking around if you get up on the wall too.
I find it best to do this one with real people. Yeah, PuGs can let you down; but when it works it works well.

I actually just tried that, pulling a group of enchanted's. It didn't work. They don't leave exploitable corpses apperently, because when I attempted to cast the spell, "Consume Corpse", and as I did, a message poped up saying, "Invalid Target". Man... I must have terrible luck, if that's all it is, because I've attempted this at least a dozen times now, all of which have produced no Scarabs... At least not where I need them to be.

Honestly, it's much easier to just try doing it normally if you want to do both at the same time. Dual FB helps for sure, but the most important thing to use clock to your advantage and take out the 2 groups in the fort as late as possible so the runners won't get the time to kill ghostly.

I was actually in the Dunes of Despair a few hours ago to reveal the area further back for my cartographer title. I was thinking of using Necrotic Traversal too, but then I re-checked the Wiki and saw this method. You should give it a try too, it really worked well for me. I did it in NM though since I didn't need anything else than the exploration, but HM shouldn't be harder. Hope that helps!

If you want to "cheat" it is a simple matter of killing the boss that spawns across the gap at the rear.

Use a longbow and spirits + EVAS and move back if he kites till he returns. He leaves a corpse, so just necrotic across.

If spawn is too far for bow, restart.

Btw no need for vamp weps on anything but yourself, just careful of scarab pops, flag heroes until they are greyed out, unflag and they will miraculously appear on the other side

All above methods can do the job surely, but i found easier and reliable (even in HM, yes) a very simple SoS build. Just do everything normally, when timer starts leave heroes at Ghostly and go killing extra Boss alone. In HM you may take a Hero with more spirits+a couple of Resto skills, just to be safe, but is really simple compared to waiting good spawns/starting timer before killing Gossh and such.

Thanks a bunch everyone. I did Elona Reach no problem, but Thirsty River, and Dunes of Despair are giving me a bit of grief, lol. Thanks again everyone.
